2011 CIE Young Achiever Award (YAA) Winner List Announced

2011 YAA Winners

The Young Achiever Award (YAA) is a key program for CIE/USA-DFW Chapter. The YAA is designed to encourage the younger generation of CIE members to achieve high academic performance, develop leadership skills, develop strong interest in engineering, and participate in extracurricular and community volunteer activities to enable them to achieve the greatest possible impact in their communities. These well-rounded skills will help them become better leaders in this very competitive global market place.

CIE is honored to have the professionals from industries to select our YAA winners.  Twenty-eight entries were received and out of those, twenty applicants were distinguished to be the recipients of the award. The twenty winners are all truly outstanding based on their extraordinary all round achievements in academic performance, demonstration of exemplary leadership and voluntary involvement in community activities.   • Three recipients have perfect SAT scores on Math, Critical Reading, Writing,  Biology-M, and Chinese Subject Tests
  • 1st place, Northlake Regional Science Olympiad Tournament
  • 1st place, 2010 Impromptu Speaking at FBLA Texas State Convention
  • 1st Grad Prize, 2011 Texas Junior Academy of Science (TJAS)
  • 1st place, 2010 Annual 7 to Smoke Breakdance Competition
  • U.S. Patent#61300296 (Pending 2010) invention of Triple-ring IPTV Backbone Network.
  • Intel ISEF Gordon Moore Award and Best of Category in Chemistry, 2010
  • Dallas Regional Science Fair-Intel Excellence in Computer Science Award
  • Co-author of scientific publication in The Journal of Biological Chemistry (2011)
  • Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Medal Award.
  • 2011 Vernell Gregg Young Artists Competition Grand Prize
  • Grand prize winner, 2010 Collin County Young Artists Competition and DMTA Symphonic Festival
  • Gold Medal on National Spanish Exam

YAA trophies and scholarship will be presented to recipients during the evening banquet of the CIE Annual Convention on Saturday, August 20 at the Renaissance Hotel in Richardson, Texas.
