19 well respected Asian American Engineers, Scientists and Executives received national honors, as part of the 2013 National Engineers Week program.
AAEOY, “the Oscar for engineers and scientists” was held in the Hyatt Regency Dallas hotel on Saturday, March 2, 2013.
600 distinguished guests joined the Chinese Institute of Engineers to pay tribute to the “Class of 2013” Asian American Engineer of the Year awardees, and to celebrate culture diversity in the American work place and the society.
The Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Dr. Subra Suresh, one of the “top ten scientists of our time in the world.” The Distinguished Science and Technology Award was presented to Dr. Alfred Cho, whose innovations in semiconductor material growth research forever changed the landscape of modern mobile electronic technologies.
Seventeen of the awardees were nominated by the organizations and institutions, where their technical or leadership contributions have significant influenced the outcomes of the businesses.
AAEOY is a celebration of achievements in science and engineering, and an affirmation to the values of cultural diversity as part of American sprit. Since its inception in 2002, AAEOY has become a prestigious platform for US corporations and institutions to recognize the high achievers in their organizations, and a national forum to spotlight Asian Cultures in America.
In addition to the accolade to the extraordinary awardees on the stage, AAEOY also showcased the many achievements of corporate diversity groups for their efforts to embrace the many cultures in the workplace, a key factor to promote innovation and discoveries in science and technology. AAEOY is the product of partnership among the National Engineers Week Foundation, the Chinese Institute of Engineers, USA, and many participating corporations and institutions.
The celebration will continue in San Francisco in 2014.AAEOY welcomes more organizations to join the celebration, and work together to promote innovations in the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
